BRING US THE IDEA.
Have something in mind you want turned into original art? A photograph. A memory. A person. A place. Or an idea that's been living in your head with nowhere to go.
Bring it to The Studio.
You bring the vision. An artist brings their style, perspective, and creativity. Together, we explore what that idea could become.
YOUR VISION. THEIR HANDS.
Have a person, place, memory, or idea you want transformed into something original?
The Studio connects your vision with an artist whose style and creative approach fit the project. Portraits. Illustrations. Folded paper art. Paintings. Handcrafted pieces. And ideas that don't quite fit neatly into a category.
You provide the inspiration. The artist interprets it through their own hands, perspective, and craft.
The result isn't pulled from a shelf. It exists because you imagined it.

HOW IT WORKS
1. SHARE YOUR IDEA
Tell us what you're imagining, including the subject, style, size, inspiration, and any details that matter to you.
2. WE FIND THE RIGHT FIT
We'll review your request and explore which participating artist is the best fit based on style, availability, and project requirements.
3. YOU'LL GET THE DETAILS
Before moving forward, we'll confirm the artist, estimated timeline, project price, and any important details about your request.
4. THE WORK BEGINS
Once everything is approved, your idea goes beyond the walls and into the hands of the artist.
5. FROM THEIR HANDS TO YOURS
When the piece is complete and reaches us, we'll prepare it for its final journey to you.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I request completely custom artwork?
Absolutely. That's what The Studio is for. Share your idea, reference images, inspiration, preferred style, and any details that matter to you. We'll review your request and determine what's possible before the project begins.
Can I choose an artist?
Yes. If you have a particular Concrete Canvas Collective artist in mind, let us know. Artist availability, facility restrictions, materials, and the nature of the project may affect whether a specific artist can accept your commission. If they're unavailable, we'll help you find another artist whose work fits your vision.
What types of artwork can I request?
Requests can include original paintings, illustrations, portraits, folded paper art, lettering and typography, handcrafted pieces, dimensional artwork, and other original concepts. If your idea doesn't fit neatly into a category, send it anyway. Some of the best ideas don't come with a label.
How long do commissions take?
Timelines vary by artist, project complexity, materials, and circumstances within the artist's facility. We'll provide an estimated timeline before your commission begins, but institutional schedules, mail processing, lockdowns, and other circumstances outside the artist's or our control can cause delays.
Are all commissions original?
Yes. Commissioned pieces offered through The Studio are individually created by the participating artist for your project. Because each piece is handmade, the finished artwork may include natural variations that are part of its originality.
CAN I REQUEST REVISIONS?
We'll work with you to make the vision as clear as possible before the artist begins. Because these pieces are created by hand and communication with incarcerated artists is limited, revisions during or after creation may not always be possible. Any available revision options will be discussed before your commission is approved.
CAN I SEND REFERENCE PHOTOS OR IMAGES?
Yes. Reference images can help communicate your vision. Images must be appropriate for the project and may be subject to facility rules or restrictions before they can be provided to the artist.
WHAT IF MY REQUEST CAN'T BE CREATED?
Not every concept, material, size, or subject can be accommodated within a correctional facility. If something about your request isn't possible, we'll let you know and, whenever we can, work with you and the artist to find another way to bring the idea to life.
